Parish Episcopal School kicked off the holidays by serving others, showcasing their talents in choir, dance and band, and by celebrating the season with Christmas pageants, Lesson & Carols and special chapel homilies on Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. The 5th grade Concert Band, 6th grade Symphonic Band, 7th & 8th grade Wind Ensemble and 9th-12th grade Parish Winds played traditional holiday music and non-traditional tunes. Parish students, faculty and staff joined in the season of giving by helping others through service projects. ParishServes held a toy drive benefitting Toys for Tots November 27 through December 8. The community donated around 1500 items to deserving families in the local area. (Read more about Toys for Tots). Parish Rosettes and Drumline got together to create goody bags for students at Cigarroa Elementary, our DISD partner school. (Details here). During the Bea’s Kids Christmas Store event on December 9, Parish helped children experience the joy of giving. The annual event provides gifts baskets and special coffee mugs of goodies for kids to give to mom and dad over the holidays. (Bea’s Kids Christmas Store).
During the week leading up to the holiday break, Parish students enjoyed advisory parties, awkward advisory holiday photos and ugly holiday sweater days (MS & US). The Parish Jazz Band and the Middle School choir provided some holiday cheer in the lobby during morning arrivals. The Jazz Band also performed during a concert on the evening of Dec 13.
